Basketball Recap: Santa Fe Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Santa Fe and Godinez Fundamental squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Santa Fe had to settle for second. They took a 51-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies. The Chiefs' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Godinez Fundamental's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Julissa Mota led the charge by going 5-for-9 to rack up 12 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brianna Lopez, who posted nine points and three steals.

Santa Fe's loss dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Godinez Fundamental, their victory bumped their record up to 15-12.

Santa Fe does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Godinez Fundamental, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Downey at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
