Softball Game Preview: Bear Creek Bears vs. Columbine Rebels

Bear Creek is 1-9 against Columbine since September of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Bears will be playing at home against the Rebels at 4:00 p.m. Bear Creek has given up an average of 10.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bear Creek came up short against Valor Christian on Saturday, falling 14-6.

Bear Creek got a big performance out of Chianna Morris, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Jasmynn Jimenez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Columbine faced Arvada West in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Rebels came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 8-4.

Mason Abraham and Nina Vargas did most of the damage at the plate: Abraham got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs, while Vargas went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Abraham has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Keiter, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Columbine pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Bear Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.
