Basketball Game Preview: Ray Bearcats vs. Lourdes Catholic Warriors

Ray is 3-0 against Lourdes Catholic since December of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Ray Bearcats will head out to face off against the Lourdes Catholic Warriors at 5:30 p.m. Ray knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Lourdes Catholic likes a good challenge.

Ray took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 62-44 win over Duncan.

Ray's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chase Chester led the charge by putting up 16 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Chester a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Chris Curiel, who posted 13 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Lourdes Catholic hadn't done well against Valley Union recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Lourdes Catholic put the hurt on Valley Union with a sharp 64-44 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Warriors as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Ray now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Lourdes Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 3-10.

Everything came up roses for Ray against Lourdes Catholic when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 72-24 win. In that matchup, Ray amassed a halftime lead of 41-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
