Kaufman and Crandall are an even 4-4 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kaufman has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with four straight losses, while Crandall will come in with five straight victories.

It was a proper cat-fight when Kaufman took on Terrell last Friday. The Lions were dealt a 56-14 defeat at the hands of the Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 309th, while the Tigers are ranked 110th).

Kaufman might have lost, but man, Elijah Rose was a machine: he rushed for 110 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries.

Meanwhile, Crandall earned a 38-30 win over Corsicana last Friday.

Crandall found their leader in sophomore Darrik Ward Jr., who rushed for 187 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 187 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Ward Jr. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Douglas, who picked up 118 receiving yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Crandall was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 232 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 232 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

Crandall didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lemahjae Collins and Carson Lewis.

Kaufman now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Crandall, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
