Baseball Game Preview: Holbrook Roadrunners vs. Snowflake Lobos

Holbrook is 0-10 against Snowflake since April of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Roadrunners will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lobos at 4:00 p.m. Holbrook is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Holbrook is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Snowflake on Tuesday. They fell 6-2 to the Lobos.

For Snowflake's part, Kyler Matthews made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Matthews has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Edge Bryant, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kasen Rogers, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Snowflake's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8-1. As for Holbrook, they now have a losing record of 12-13.

Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Holbrook has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. However, it's not like Snowflake struggles in that department as they've averaged .434. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
