Baseball Recap: Shiloh Comes Up Short

Shiloh fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Decatur on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 5-4. The Generals haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Nick Edwards put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 7.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Edwards was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base and one run.

Edwards wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tyren Morgan, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Shane Ruiz was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Shiloh's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Decatur, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-14.

While Shiloh had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
