Football Recap: Calhoun County Comes Up Short

Calhoun County had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-6 to make it seven. They were dealt a 55-20 loss at the hands of the Atkinson County Rebels. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 56-6 to the Rebels when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Atkinson County, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 20 points or more this season.

Darrian Roberts produced another solid performance rushing for 207 yards and five TDs on only 12 carries. He has been hot for a while, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last ten times he's played. Jadarien Davis also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

Looking ahead, Calhoun County will challenge Baconton Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Atkinson County, they will square off against Hilliard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels will be up against the Red Flashes' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.44 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
