Volleyball Recap: Upsala Cardinals vs. Benson
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Swanville, Upsala was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against Benson by a score of 3-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cardinals as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
While Upsala might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Benson scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-23, 22-25, 25-23, 25-18.
Zoey Leners paced Upsala's offense, picking up 17 kills. Leners got some help from Sierra Bense and her 34 assists. Finally, Leners was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high five blocks.
Upsala's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Benson, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Looking ahead, Upsala will square off against Long Prairie-Grey Eagle at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Benson has already played their next contest (against Montevideo), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
