Softball Recap: St. Anne-Pacelli Has No Trouble Against Manchester

St. Anne-Pacelli barely beat Manchester the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings blew past the Blue Devils 15-0 on Thursday. Considering the Vikings have won three games by more than 11 runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Talley Ellis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaci Watkins, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those stolen bases were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Champion, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases and two runs.

St. Anne-Pacelli was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

St. Anne-Pacelli moved to 3-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Manchester, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coming up, St. Anne-Pacelli will take on Heritage at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Manchester, they will face off against Shaw at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
