Football Recap: Rincon/University Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Rincon/University managed to slip by Cholla the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Rangers were dealt a 36-0 defeat at the hands of the Chargers on Friday. The Rangers just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Damian Estrella had an outrageously good game for Cholla as he rushed for 83 yards and two scores on only ten carries, and also threw for 177 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 passes. What's more, Estrella posted two passing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Cholla also got a significant boost from Dom Vurro, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 123 yards.

Rincon/University's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Cholla, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rincon/University will welcome Empire at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rangers will be up against the Ravens' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Cholla, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Rio Rico at 7:00 p.m. The Chargers will be up against the Hawks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38.25 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
