Softball Recap: O'Neill Comes Up Short

After soaring to ten runs the game before, O'Neill was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They came up short against the Centura Centurions, falling 8-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Centurions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-3 back in August.

Rylee Selby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

O'Neill's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Centura, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

O'Neill didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Crete on the 13th. As for Centura, they have also already played their next game, an 8-4 win against Milford on the 13th.
