Basketball Recap: Superior Wildcats vs. Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines

Superior was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines, falling 53-23. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolverines apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Maddi Bargen was Superior's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Bargen also led the team in rebounds with five. Olivia Smullins took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Wilber-Clatonia found their leader in freshman Brynn Zajicek, who shot 43% from the field en route to 17 points and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for Zajicek. Another player making a difference was Kaylie Fritz, who posted eight points and seven boards.

Superior's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Wilber-Clatonia, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
