Recap: South Tahoe Vikings vs. North Valleys Panthers
After a string of three wins, the South Tahoe Vikings's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 61-49 to North Valleys. If South Tahoe hoped to take revenge for the 48-47 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Despite the defeat, South Tahoe had strong showings from Campbell Mathews, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds, and Ava Wolfe, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That's the first time this season that Wolfe pulled down eight or more rebounds.
South Tahoe's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8. As for North Valleys, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Tahoe and Truckee will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for North Valleys, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hug at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hug will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nevada Rankings (they are ranked 90th, while North Valleys is ranked 20th).
