Soccer Recap: Sultana Takes a Loss

After flying high against Hesperia last Monday, Sultana came back down to earth. The Sultana Sultans took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Apple Valley Sun Devils on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Sultans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 507th, while the Sun Devils are ranked 36th).

Sultana's goal came courtesy of Yzabelle Torres, who's now up to six this season.

Sultana's loss dropped their record down to 11-10-3. As for Apple Valley, the win keeps them at an undefeated 17-0-2.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Sultana will venture away from home to challenge Estancia at 5:00 p.m. on February 12th. As for Apple Valley, they will welcome Oaks Christian at 5:00 p.m. on February 12th. Apple Valley is on a nine-game streak of home wins, Oaks Christian a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the pitch.
