Baseball Recap: Summerfield Comes Up Short

Summerfield had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 11-7 to make it four. They fell just short of the Bedford Kicking Mules by a score of 2-1. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Kicking Mules apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2018.

Jude Flowers was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

As for Bedford, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

On Bedford's side, Summerfield's batters probably weren't too happy with Nick Coberley, who pitched a no hitter (he gave up zero walks).

At the plate, Bedford saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Leonhard, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double.

Summerfield has already played their next matchup (against Washtenaw Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Bedford also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Saline.
