Baseball Recap: Deerfield-Windsor Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

Deerfield-Windsor hadn't done well against Terrell Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Deerfield-Windsor walked away with a 13-8 victory over Terrell Academy. For the Knights, this counts as revenge for the 10-2 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

David Hutchins made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lane Sceals, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Brantley Michlig also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Deerfield-Windsor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matchups.

Deerfield-Windsor pushed their record up to 6-1-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Terrell Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.

Deerfield-Windsor will have a chance to go back-to-back against Terrell Academy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
