Basketball Recap: Rio Vista Comes Up Short

Rio Vista lost against John Adams Academy - El Dorado Hills back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Rio Vista Rams fell 40-28 to the John Adams Academy - El Dorado Hills Patriots.

Despite the loss, Rio Vista still got an impressive performance from Samiah Holley, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 steals. Holley is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Guadalupe Valdenegro, who posted five points in addition to 12 boards and four steals.

Even though they lost, Rio Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

It was another big night for Elliott Schwartz, who went 10-for-19 to rack up 24 points along with three steals and three blocks for John Adams Academy - El Dorado Hills. That's the most points Schwartz has posted since back in February of 2024. Bianca Taguinod was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

Rio Vista now has a losing record of 12-13. As for John Adams Academy - El Dorado Hills, their win bumped their record up to 11-14.

Rio Vista wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-3 victory against Highlands on the 7th. As for John Adams Academy - El Dorado Hills, they have also already played their next matchup, a 60-15 win against Buckingham Charter on the 6th.
