Baseball Recap: Montgomery County Comes Up Short

If Montgomery County was feeling good fresh off their 12-2 takedown of Claxton on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles came up short against the East Laurens Falcons on Wednesday, falling 13-3. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Falcons: they've now lost four in a row.

Montgomery County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rilynn Dees, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Dees is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Matthew Harvey was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Montgomery County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for East Laurens, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-13.

Coming up, Montgomery County will face off against Claxton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.53 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for East Laurens, they will challenge Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
