Basketball Game Preview: Analy Tigers vs. Cardinal Newman Cardinals

Analy is 0-10 against Cardinal Newman since January of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Analy Tigers challenge the Cardinal Newman Cardinals at 7:30 p.m.

Analy is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They took a blow against Maria Carrillo, falling 64-21. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 598th, while the Pumas are ranked 229th).

Meanwhile, Cardinal Newman had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.5 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Saturday. They walked away with a 67-55 victory over the Hornets.

Analy's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Cardinal Newman, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.

Analy took a serious blow against Cardinal Newman in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 80-21. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Analy was down 48-10.
