Soccer Game Preview: Lake Oconee Academy vs. Towns County

The Lake Oconee Academy Titans will challenge the Towns County Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Georgia Military College who was credited with the victory on Tuesday. Georgia Military College got it done in the shootout by posting seven goals to Lake Oconee Academy's six. The defeat continues a trend for the Titans in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost nine in a row.

Lake Oconee Academy will be up against a hot Towns County squad: the team just extended their winning streak to eight. Towns County walked away with a 3-1 win over Prince Avenue Christian on Wednesday. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Wolverines are ranked 357th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Towns County's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those four games. As for Lake Oconee Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Lake Oconee Academy took their win against Towns County in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 4-0. Will Lake Oconee Academy repeat their success, or does Towns County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
