Softball Recap: Blair Sets Scoring Season-High Against Scottsbluff

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Blair). They were the clear victors by a 17-4 margin over the Scottsbluff Bearcats on Saturday. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Taytum Macholan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Blair got a massive performance out of Laynie Brown, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Brown a new career-high. Kaitlynn O'Neil was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple.

Blair is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Scottsbluff, they moved to 12-11 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Blair wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 18-7 win against Lincoln North Star on the 27th. As for Scottsbluff, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-6 victory against Lincoln Southeast on the 27th.
