Baseball Recap: Saugus Gets the Win

Saugus extended their postseason success on Tuesday against San Marino. They skirted past the Titans 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Centurions have posted since March 31st.

Abraham Ramirez and Matt Carta did most of the damage at the plate: Ramirez got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Carta went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Carta has posted since back in March. Matt Long was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Saugus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests.

Saugus has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-14 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for San Marino, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-9.

Coming up, Saugus will take on Rio Mesa at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Centurions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. San Marino does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
