Centaurus hasn't had much luck against Northglenn recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Warriors will challenge the Norsemen at 10:00 a.m. Centaurus will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Centaurus' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Englewood. Considering the Warriors have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Nora Midness was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs.
In other batting news, Centaurus got a massive performance out of Kaitlyn Long, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Emery Fannin, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Centaurus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests.
Westminster hit Northglenn with a four-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Norsemen fell 10-5 to the Wolves.
Like Centaurus, Northglenn also got a great game from a two-way player: Jocelyn Evans. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Evans a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ary Samaniego and Jena Apodaca did some serious damage despite the final result: Samaniego went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Apodaca went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. Ashlynn Candelaria also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Centaurus' record now sits at 15-1. As for Northglenn, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
