Football Game Preview: Shiprock Chieftains vs. Tohatchi Cougars

Shiprock hasn't had much luck against Tohatchi recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Chieftains will welcome the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Shiprock is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a 31-16 bruising from Wingate on Thursday.

Although Shiprock took the loss, they still got scores from Blake Begay and Arnesto Manygoat.

Shiprock didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Begay, Manygoat, and Akoni Clah picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Wingate's side was Wakiyan Stash, who picked up a sack and made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Tohatchi's offense. They were outmatched by Thoreau and fell 51-0. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Tohatchi's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Shiprock, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
