Preview: Beaumont United Timberwolves vs. Kingwood Mustangs
After two games on the road, Beaumont United is heading back home. They will take on the Kingwood Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Beaumont United has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,700 points over their last 24 contests.
Last Wednesday, Beaumont United earned a 60-49 victory over North Shore. Given Beaumont United's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while North Shore is ranked 278th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Beaumont United to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kayde Dotson, who scored 14 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Clarence Payia, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Kingwood lost to Atascocita at home by a decisive 54-38 margin on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Kingwood in their matchups with Atascocita: they've now lost seven in a row.
Beaumont United pushed their record up to 23-1 with that win, which was their 15th straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.7 points per game. As for Kingwood, their loss dropped their record down to 13-12.
Everything came up roses for Beaumont United against Kingwood in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 66-31 win. Will Beaumont United repeat their success, or does Kingwood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
