Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for North Callaway

North Callaway waltzed into their contest on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came out on top against the Northeast Bearcats by a score of 5-2. The Thunderbirds have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bearcats, too.

Megan Schmidt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kymorie Myers, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Madyson Gordon, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

North Callaway's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Northeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Coming up, North Callaway will venture away from home to challenge California at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds are facing the Pintos at the right time seeing as the Pintos are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Northeast, they will face off against Sturgeon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
