Football Recap: Sinton Takes Down Wimberley in a Playoff Battle + How To Watch

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sinton walked away with it. They walked away with a 35-26 win over the Wimberley Texans on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Marcos Zapata went supernova, rushing for 158 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 66 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Mykha Green also helped out as he racked up 124 rushing yards.

Sinton didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Wimberley to a completion percentage of just 44.8%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from three players: Zapata, Jonathan Rivas, and Qwinton Rhines, who each logged one passes deflected. Sinton has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.59 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.59 in their last three games.

Wimberley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maverick Jacobs, who rushed for 129 yards and one TD while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Colt Wright was in the mix too, providing the Texans with two scores.

Sinton's record is now 12-1. As for Wimberley, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.

Looking ahead, Sinton will square off against Cuero at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Gobblers have now posted at least 31 points in their last 11 games. Wimberley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
