Baseball Preview: Commerce Tigers vs. Elbert County Blue Devils

For the second straight game, Commerce will face off against Elbert County. The Tigers will face off against the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Tuesday, Commerce came up short against Elbert County and fell 9-5.

For Elbert County's part, Sam Amabile made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Amabile has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other pitching news, Elbert County got a great performance from Haven Adams as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Adams also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Blue Devils are 13-3 when he allows at most two walks, but 6-7 otherwise.

Elbert County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Commerce, their loss dropped their record down to 5-22.
