Softball Recap: Cheyenne Mountain Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Cheyenne Mountain dropped to 16-5 on Wednesday, ending the team's eight-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Palmer Ridge Bears, falling 12-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Red-Tailed Hawks couldn't push the score so high this time.

Corrine Harlow was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for Palmer Ridge, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

On Palmer Ridge's side, Pam Boyarko was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Boyarko has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Corinna Arellano, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Kayleigh Garcia was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Cheyenne Mountain wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 12-2 victory against Coronado on the 9th. As for Palmer Ridge, they will face off against Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season.
