Football Game Preview: Nonnewaug/Lakeview/Shepaug Valley Chiefs vs. Platt RVT Panthers + Official Tickets

The Nonnewaug/Lakeview/Shepaug Valley Chiefs will head out on the road to face off against the Platt RVT Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Back in September, Nonnewaug/Lakeview/Shepaug Valley blew past Wilcox Tech/Kaynor RVT, posting a 43-12 victory. With the Chiefs ahead 30-6 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Nonnewaug/Lakeview/Shepaug Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Davion Joe out in front who rushed for 144 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 carries, and also caught one touchdown. Derek Chung also helped with two scores in total.

Meanwhile, Platt RVT came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.7 points), and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Tigers 51-14. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 36 points or more this season.

Nonnewaug/Lakeview/Shepaug Valley better keep an eye on Caleb Brickhouse. He was instrumental in Platt RVT's win, rushing for 305 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Those 305 rushing yards gave Brickhouse a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddux Vargas, who rushed for 67 yards and one TD on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Platt RVT was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 483 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive games.

Nonnewaug/Lakeview/Shepaug Valley's record is now 3-0. As for Platt RVT, their record now sits at 4-1.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Nonnewaug/Lakeview/Shepaug Valley has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 162 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Platt RVT struggles in that department as they've been averaging 298.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
