Basketball Recap: Vivianna Lopez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bethel Christian over Sherman Indian

While it was all tied up 17-17 at halftime, Bethel Christian was not quite Sherman Indian's equal in the second half on Friday. The contest between them and the Sherman Indian Braves didn't end well, with the Bethel Christian Kings falling 42-28. If the Kings were looking for revenge after losing 50-40 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Kings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Vivianna Lopez, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 boards. Lopez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Samantha Arellano was another key player, putting up four points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Bethel Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.

Bethel Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Sherman Indian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.

Bethel Christian has already played their next contest (against Mesa Grande Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sherman Indian will venture away from home to take on United Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
