Baseball Recap: Girard Comes Up Short

Girard lost a heartbreaker to LaBrae when they met back in May of 2016, and they left with a heavy heart again on Saturday. The Indians fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 6-5. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Ja'Den Royal and Bobby Levonyak did some serious damage despite the final result: Royal went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one stolen base, while Levonyak went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Girard's loss dropped their record down to 10-15. As for LaBrae, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Girard will host South Range at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for LaBrae, they will head out on the road to take on Lakeview at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
