Basketball Game Preview: Mansfield Tigers vs. Williamson Warriors

The Mansfield Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Williamson Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Williamson took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Mansfield, who comes in off a win.

Mansfield is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Sayre 67-11 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Redskins: they've now won three in a row.

Mansfield's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Madelyn McNamara, who went 8-for-15 to rack up 21 points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds, and Kameron Lightner, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 14 boards. Lightner is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last 22 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Kaczynski, who posted six points along with six boards and six steals.

Mansfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Williamson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 30-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of Athens.

Williamson's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Mansfield, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.

Mansfield didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Williamson in their previous matchup back in January of 2025, but they still walked away with a 43-37 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
