Softball Recap: Gering Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Gering extended their winning streak to eight on Tuesday, bumping them up to 13-5. They put the hurt on the Bayard Tigers with a sharp 21-2 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Rylee Luce, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Jacelyn Brown was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gering kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matchups.

As for Bayard, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Bayard's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaidence Lee, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gering will square off against Scottsbluff on Thursday. As for Bayard, they will challenge Wray/Yuma at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
