Soccer Recap: Irwin County Comes Up Short

Irwin County came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Atkinson County Rebels, falling 10-0. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 4-0 to the Indians when the teams met back in April of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Irwin County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Atkinson County, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Looking ahead, Irwin County will host Echols County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Irwin County has given up an average of 7.4 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. As for Atkinson County, they are taking a road trip to face off against Lanier County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Atkinson County has three straight victories, Lanier County has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.
