Basketball Recap: Gregori Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Gregori came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Modesto Panthers with points to spare, taking the game 37-21. That's more bragging rights for the Jaguars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Gregori was led to victory by Alanah Lopez and Veronica Whitten. Lopez went 5 of 10 on her way to 14 points, while Whitten posted six points along with seven steals and six boards. That's the most steals Whitten has posted since back in November of 2024.

Modesto's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eshrajjit Rai, who had two points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds. Rai is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Iheoma Agunanne also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Gregori is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Modesto, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.

Gregori has already played their next contest (against Pitman), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Modesto will head out on the road to take on Turlock at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Modesto is facing Turlock at the right time seeing as Turlock is stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
