Basketball Recap: Berwick Takes a Loss

Berwick lost against Hazleton Area back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Berwick Bulldogs were outmatched by the Hazleton Area Cougars and fell 56-23. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 494th, while the Cougars are ranked second).

Berwick lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Carly Post, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Calarco, who earned five points and three steals.

Berwick dropped their record down to 2-12 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Hazleton Area, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.

Berwick wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 46-26 loss against Wyoming Valley West on the 20th. As for Hazleton Area, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 77-45 win against Crestwood on the 20th.
