Soccer Game Preview: Point Loma vs. Patrick Henry

Point Loma and Patrick Henry are an even 3-3-1 against one another since January of 2018, but likely not for long. The Point Loma Pointers will take on the Patrick Henry Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Patrick Henry took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Point Loma, who comes in off a win.

If Point Loma beats Patrick Henry with two goals on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. Point Loma narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Coronado 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pointers.

Sophia Valli and Lilah Harris scored both of Point Loma's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Meanwhile, Patrick Henry's game on Wednesday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Academy of Our Lady of Peace by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty four goals in the game before, the Patriots' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Point Loma's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those six games. As for Patrick Henry, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7-2.

Point Loma beat Patrick Henry by a goal in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Point Loma since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
