Chugiak is 9-1 against Eagle River since October of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Mustangs will square off against the Wolves at 8:00 p.m. Chugiak will be strutting in after a victory while Eagle River will be coming in after a defeat.

Chugiak is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Bettye Davis East Anchorage, who was ranked 21st at the time (Chugiak was ranked sixth). The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Thunderbirds on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Mustangs have posted against the Thunderbirds since August 29, 2024.

Chugiak not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Bettye Davis East Anchorage between 13 and 16 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-13, 25-13.

Meanwhile, Eagle River came up short against South Anchorage on Tuesday and fell 3-1.

Eagle River couldn't get the win, but they sure gave South Anchorage a tough time in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-29, 32-30, 25-2, 25-7.

Chugiak pushed their record up to 20-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Eagle River, their loss dropped their record down to 31-12-1.

Chugiak took their win against Eagle River in their previous meeting back in August by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
