Football Game Preview: Irvine Vaqueros vs. El Toro Chargers + How To Watch

The Irvine Vaqueros will head out on the road to face off against the El Toro Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Irvine is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.

On Thursday, Irvine beat Canyon 29-21.

Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for El Toro, as they earned their first away win of the season. They enjoyed a cozy 35-21 victory over Sonora on Thursday. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Raiders are ranked 605th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Irvine better keep an eye on Makya Chee. He was instrumental in El Toro's win, rushing for 156 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 carries. Chee has been hot, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Nucci, who threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes.

El Toro was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 231 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sonora only rushed for 103.

Irvine's record is now 6-1. As for El Toro, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Irvine didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against El Toro in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 22-17 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vaqueros since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
