Baseball Recap: New Creation Christian Academy Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

New Creation Christian Academy dropped their record down to 11-6 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Scholars Guild Academy Spartans, falling 12-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-0 back in March.

As for Scholars Guild Academy, they pushed their record up to 18-7 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games.

For Scholars Guild Academy's part, Jacob Chupp made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Chupp has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ty Newton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Henry Rumble was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Creation Christian Academy will host Abundant Life Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Crusaders are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Scholars Guild Academy, they will welcome Johnson Ferry Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Saints have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
