The Florence Huskies will venture away from home to take on the Bennett Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Florence is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Florence will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Mitchell on Tuesday. The Huskies blew past the Marauders 16-6. Considering the Huskies have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Addison Dalton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September.
In other batting news, Lilly Roe was excellent, going 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in September. Bailey Noble also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Florence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Bennett lost 26-10 to Fort Lupton on Thursday. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bennett saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colby Robichaud, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Another was Grace Mathis, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Florence now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Bennett, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Florence has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .475. However, it's not like Bennett struggles in that department as they've averaged .591. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
