Soccer Game Preview: Johansen vs. Beyer

The Johansen Vikings will head out to face off against the Beyer Patriots at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Johansen took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Livingston a 1-0 shutout.

Meanwhile, Beyer sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over Lathrop on Thursday. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 317th, while the Spartans are ranked 954th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Johansen's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those three matches. As for Beyer, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.

Johansen came up short against Beyer in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Johansen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
