Softball Recap: Platteview Comes Up Short

Platteview couldn't beat Beatrice on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Trojans lost 17-5 to the Orangemen. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 11-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Platteview saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Stites, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Reese Lingle was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Platteview and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Beatrice, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Platteview will venture away from home to square off against Ashland-Greenwood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Beatrice, they will head out to face off against Wahoo at 6:30 p.m. on September 2.
