Soccer Recap: Lincoln Takes a Loss

Lincoln was the 2-1 winner over Branham when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Lincoln Lions fell just short of the Branham Bruins by a score of 1-0 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while the Bruins are ranked 101st).

This is the second loss in a row for Lincoln and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for Branham, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-0-2 record this season.

Lincoln and Branham's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Lincoln and Pioneer (who has only given up 0.14 goals per game) will meet at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. Lincoln is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 7.3 goals per game this season. Meanwhile, Branham will challenge Valley Christian at 6:15 p.m. on January 3rd, a squad that's only allowed 0.38 goals per game.
