Football Recap: Sam Houston Starts off Right with Win over Nimitz + How To Watch

Sam Houston had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They enjoyed a cozy 28-14 win over the Nimitz Vikings. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but the Texans were the (much) better team in the second half.

When it comes to explaining why Nimitz lost, don't look at Jevon Woolfolk. Despite the final result, he rushed for 169 yards and one score while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Woolfolk showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 67 yards. Nimitz also got a significant boost from Jimmy Ziegenfuss, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.

Coming up, Sam Houston will head out on the road to challenge Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Nimitz, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Paschal at 7:00 p.m.
