Basketball Game Preview: Moorpark Musketeers vs. Simi Valley Pioneers

The Moorpark Musketeers will square off against the Simi Valley Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Moorpark is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Camarillo just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were outmatched by the Scorpions and fell 70-30. While losing is never fun, the Musketeers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while the Scorpions are ranked 115th).

Meanwhile, Simi Valley posted their biggest win since February 1, 2024 on Friday. They blew past Fillmore 55-31.

Simi Valley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Moorpark, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

Things could have been worse for Moorpark, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-35 loss to Simi Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Moorpark avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
