Baseball Recap: Wayne Takes a Loss

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Wayne's offense. They came up short against the Charleston Catholic Irish on Wednesday, falling 10-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Pioneers have suffered since May 8th.

This is the second loss in a row for Wayne and nudges their season record down to 9-25. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 23-5 Sissonville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 71.4% over those games). As for Charleston Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-13.

Wayne does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Charleston Catholic, they will head out on the road to square off against Sissonville at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Irish's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
