Basketball Game Preview: Notre Dame Regents vs. Priory Panthers

Notre Dame hasn't had much luck against Priory recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Notre Dame Regents will head out on the road to square off against the Priory Panthers.

Last Tuesday, Notre Dame took a blow against Pinewood, falling 70-36. While losing is never fun, the Regents can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Panthers are ranked ninth).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Priory challenged Notre Dame on Tuesday. Priory claimed a resounding 56-22 win over Notre Dame. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 25 points or more this season.

Priory's win came from a few key players Notre Dame will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Adelaide Chan, who posted two points in addition to seven assists and five steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in assists. Sasha Johnson was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Priory's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Notre Dame, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Notre Dame suffered a grim 67-42 defeat to Priory when the teams last played back in January. Can Notre Dame avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
