Basketball Recap: Northwood Takes a Loss

Northwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 46-29 fall against the Laguna Beach Breakers. While losing is never fun, the Timberwolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 903rd, while the Breakers are ranked 413th).

Leading Laguna Beach to victory were Kate Cheng and Fiona McCormick. Cheng posted 23 points, while McCormick had 15 points and eight rebounds. McCormick is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played.

Northwood's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Laguna Beach, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Northwood will be playing in front of their home fans against Irvine at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th. As for Laguna Beach, they will head out to face off against University at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th.
